Psychotherapist Sydney

I spent 30 years in advertising before I realised my true vocation lies in helping those who are suffering. Based on my personal experience and my natural predisposition to provide compassion and guidance to people in need, I was encouraged by friends and family to establish my own practice.

After completing an AOD Certificate IV, I went on to pursue a Masters in Psychotherapy & Counselling at Jansen Newman Institute. I continue my education in the field of psychotherapy and treatment through attending regular seminars at the Black Dog Institute, which seeks to reduce the rate of mental illness and the stigma that surrounds it.

My first psychotherapy role involved working for the Oasis Youth Crisis refuge in Surry Hills where I worked with male and female adolescents (aged 16-21) who presented with trauma and chemical dependency. Oasis was a volatile environment where I learnt to manage complex situations with compassion for the disfunctional youths. Co-morbidity was common amongst the clients and I worked closely with psychiatrists at St Vincent’s Hospital in order to establish the best course of treatment.

I then completed an internship at South Pacific Private, known as “the leading treatment centre” for individuals suffering from mental illness and trauma. Here I became familiar with the world-renowned Pia Melody/Meadows program and utilised group therapy to deal with depression, mental illness and co-dependency.

Finally, I pursued a role as Psychotherapist at GATS in South Australia. I directed group therapy utilising psychotherapy as a tool working with co-dependents, bipolars and general trauma. I also ran one on one counselling sessions usually working closely with 5 clients a day.
